Airport coaches from Taxim are the most practical way, while Private Buses are the most comfortable and easy way to travel between the airport and Istanbul city centre, with the journey taking approximately 1 hour from Istanbul city centre.

After Ataturk Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW), Istanbul New Airport (IST) is Istanbul's third international airport that opened with a grand ceremony on 29 October 2018. IST was created with the goal and vision to build a very large airport in Istanbul that can accommodate and manage the rapidly growing air traffic and travel to Istanbul, as Istanbul is one of the top 20 most visited cities in the world and a major hub for travelers and airlines from around the world.
The IST construction project started in 2015 having four phases. The first phase was completed on 29 October 2018 when the airport partially started operations. All four phases of IST Airport are scheduled to be completed in 2028 with the construction of six runways, two terminals and two airport control towers and IST will be the largest airport in the world with a capacity of 200 million passengers per year.
